WHO WE ARE
The Ministry of Youth and Sports was established to promote the welfare and development of the youth in Zamfara State. We believe that the youth are the backbone of our society and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our state. Our focus is on providing opportunities for personal growth, skill acquisition, and sports development.
MANDATE & FUNCTIONS
Core Mandate of the Ministry: Responsible for the formation, and implementation of policies and programmes further improvement of youth development. It mobilizes, coordinates and supervises the participation of youth in all activities of federal, state and local government levels.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
• Initiating and formulating of youth development policies.
• Coordinating youth development programs.
• Serving as an avenue for channeling youth requests & demands in regards to government policies and programs.
• Collaboration in regards to government policies & programs coming in to the state either from the federal government as agencies.
OUR PROGRAMS
• Youth Empowerment Initiatives
– Skill Acquisition Programs: We offer various vocational training programs in fields such as technology, agriculture, and entrepreneurship to equip our youth with the necessary skills for self-sufficiency.
– Leadership Development: Our leadership training workshops aim to nurture the next generation of leaders by instilling values of integrity, responsibility, and community service.
• Sports Development
– Talent Identification and Development: We scout and nurture young athletes through sports academies and training camps, providing them with the resources needed to excel in their chosen sports.
– Community Sports Events: We organize local sports competitions and events to promote physical fitness and community spirit among the youth.
• Health and Wellness Programs
– Youth Health Awareness Campaigns: We conduct campaigns to educate young people about health issues, including mental health, substance abuse, and nutrition.
– Fitness and Wellness Workshops: Regular workshops are held to encourage a healthy lifestyle through physical activities and wellness practices.
OUR INITIATIVES
– Youth Engagement Forums: We host forums and town hall meetings to engage with the youth, gather feedback, and discuss their needs and aspirations.
– Partnerships with NGOs: Collaborating with non-governmental organizations to enhance our outreach and provide comprehensive support to youth programs.
– Scholarship Opportunities: We provide scholarships for deserving youth to pursue higher education and vocational training.
